Weekend Football Boots Spotting - Midweek Update

Weekend Football Boots Spotting - Midweek Update

Image

A variety of domestic and cup action around the globe has provided a midweek update from our boot spotters, who've found some retro boots on show, more customised sole-plates and a host of new boots...

Image Image

Andre Dias (Lazio) Nike Vapor Superfly I

We think this white/black/pink Superfly colourway was under-rated when released, as there weren't that many pro players spotted wearing them, especially when you consider the latest adizero colourway. But what's more interesting is Dias' mixed stud sole-plate, which reminds us of a Ronaldo boot.

Jaime Toledo (Santos Laguna) Nike AZT90 II

A classic boot here, first released back in 2002! Santos Laguna's Jaime Toledo was sporting a pair of Nike Air Zoom Total 90 II football boots, previously worn by the likes of Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos and was a forerunner to the Laser range, as he played in the CONCACAF Champions League.

Simone Perrotta (Roma) Lotto Fuerzapura

As an Italian brand you would expect to see a strong showing from Lotto in the Italian leagues, and to prove the boot is a top-end performer Roma's Simone Perrotta ws sporting the latest silo - the Lotto Fuerzapura - in Roma's most recent Serie A game.

Mauro Camoranesi (Stuttgart)
Puma v1.10 Tricks

Daniel Sturridge (Chelsea)
adidas Predator X DB

Camoranesi is still in his v1.10 Tricks football boots, one of the most distinctive designs this year, yet unfortunately we didn't see too many pro players wearing at the World Cup.

Daniel Sturridge switched out of the Predators into the adizero's, then he switched back and wore the Champions League colourways, but now he is back in the DB's which we have to say look great.

Jason Garey (Columbus Crew)
Under Armor Create Pro II

Bebe (Man Utd)
Nike Vapor Superfly II

Ignoring the blatant handball! Garey's Under Armor Create football boots certainly stand-out on the pitch, but considering the Create Pro is in its' second generation we've not been overawed by the player uptake.

A first chance for Manchester United fans to see latest signing Bebe in action, a relatively unknown player that Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a chance on, we were interested to see what Bebe's boot choice would be for competitive action.

There were some great football boots on show this weekend, including some brand new boots and unique new colourways, we also take a look at Steven Gerrard's new boots which took everyone by surprise...

Image Image

Goran Pandev (Inter Milan) adidas F50 adizero

Pandev was back in a pair of blackout adizero's as Inter took on Palermo, yet despite our hopes that Pandev could be testing the adizero II football boots, it looks as though these boots are the original blacked out adizero's Pandev first wore during last season's Champions League.

Hugo Rodallega (Wigan) Nike Vapor Superfly II

Rodallega is clearly a bit of a boot fan, as we've previously seen him try out a variety of bespoke football boots that catch the eye on the pitch. But none more so than these unique Vapor Superfly football boots which sport the colours of his nation Columbia.

Martin Palermo (Boca Juniors) Puma King Finale

It looks as though Martin Palermo is playing in the new Puma King Finale football boots, a boot that is due to be released around December. Despite this estimated launch date, Palermo has been wearing his bespoke Puma football boots since the World Cup.

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) adidas Predator X

Our inbox was flooded by eagle-eyed boot spotters who saw Gerrard playing at Old Trafford wearing a customised pair of adidas Predator X football boots. Interesting boots these, as Gerrard quite famously only wears standard black colourways so to have the gold detailing is a really bespoke customisation.

Image Image

Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) Nike CTR360 Maestri

We're quite sure Jack Wilshere is the first player to competitively wear this new Nike CTR360 Maestri colourway, the blue/white/black combination is expected to be made available in the coming months, so we should expect to see more players making the switch. Interesting though that it wasn't his team-mate Fabregas debuting the boots?

Image Image

Lucas Barrios (Dortmund) Puma v1.06

It seems in every major league around the globe you will find a fan of the Puma v1.06 football boots, who hasn't felt the need to change out of his beloved football boots. Playing in Germany is Lucas Barrios, in these great looking white and black football boots, and if they are so old, he certainly does a good job of cleaning his boots!

Image Image

Pedro (Barcelona) Nike Vapor Superfly II

The sole-plate for the Superfly II football boots have caused a lot of controversy, and we've seen various players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Didier Drogba and Luis Fabiano wearing their own customised sole-plates. Barcelona's Pedro can now be added to that list, as the speedy winger is using the Vapor VI sole-plate on his Superfly's.

Image Image

Dimitar Berbatov (Man Utd) adidas Predator X

Only last week we were showing in detail that David Beckham has a PowerSwerve sole-plate fixed to his adidas Predator X football boots, and as our exclusive images show Berabtov also has the PowerSwerve chamber fitted. Although unlike Beckham, Berbatov is happy to have the one-piece outsole.

Image Image

Raul Meireles (Liverpool)
Puma King XL

John O'Shea (Man Utd)
Concave PT

Meireles had previously worn the Puma v1.10 football boots, so to change into the Puma King XL football boots for the game against Manchester United is quite a drastic change.

John O'Shea supplied the cross from his Concave PT football boots for Berbatov to rise and score the winning goal against Liverpool. Despite being a relatively new idea, the Concave football boots have become a genuine contender on the pitch.
