Weekend Football Boots Spotting 27/09/10

Weekend Football Boots Spotting 27/09/10

Image

A host of new football boots on show this weekend, as fan favourites Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho all changed their boots. We also had players switching boot and brands, most notably Nani who switched out of the Mercurial boots into a rival brand...

Nani (Manchester United) adidas F50 adizero

Our inbox was flooded yesterday afternoon as Nani shocked us all and wore the adizero football boots. Although perhaps the writing was on the wall for Nike, as Nani had trained in Predator boots this week. But no-one expected to see Nani in the synthetic white/black/pink F50 adizero's, which he might continue doing after he scored a fantastic goal which began in his own half!

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (AC Milan) Nike Vapor Superfly II

Ibrahimovic and Robinho were just two of a host of Mercurial players who switched into the Cherry Pink Vapor Superfly II football boots this weekend. We also noticed Ibrahimovic wore a mixed stud sole-plate, whilst it looks as though Robinho is wearing the Vapor sole-plate as there are no NikeSense studs.

Kim Kallstrom (Lyon) Nike T90 Laser III

We think Kallstrom is the first player to competitively wear the new K leather black and yellow Nike T90 Laser III football boots. Kallstrom has been a big fan of the latest incarnations of the Laser range, and has worn pretty much all the K leather colourways.

Dani Alves (Barcelona) adidas F50 adizero

After weeks of speculation, Dani Alves has come out as a proud adizero wearer! Up until now Alves had been wearing a blacked-out pair of the adizero's, whilst also wearing a blacked out pair of Superfly's. But now Alves has worn the gold adizero, which following our exclusive interview with Messi, we know Alves is a big fan of.

Daniel Majstorovic (Celtic) Nike T90 Laser Elite

Swedish defender and tough-tackler Daniel Majstorovic gave a debut to the latest colourway for the synthetic Nike Laser football boots, and Majstorovic is one of the few players to wear the Elite range as we can tell from the heel counter and sole-plate, although the Celtic defender was in soft-ground versions.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Vapor Superfly II

After first wearing them in training, Cristiano wore his new Cherry Pink versions of the Nike Vapor Superfly II football boots for his first competitive match. Despite the new upper, we noticed Ronaldo is still wearing his bespoke mixed-stud sole-plate.

Yaya Toure (Man City) Nike T90 Laser III

Yaya Toure has intrigued us over recent weeks, as he's been wearing a pair of blacked-out Nike Elite football boots. But now Toure has switched into the k leather versions, yet he's still blacking the boots out - and very badly we might add! It amazes us that a player on over £200,000 a week would have a dispute with his boot company and that these were the best he can come up with.

Raivis Hscanovics (Toronto) Mizuno Morelia

An interesting spot here from the Major League, as Toronto's Raivis Hscanovics wore a customised pair of Mizuno Morelia football boots. You can clearly see from the heel these are Morelia's, but Hscanovics has removed the Mizuno logo to create a nice pair of white-out football boots.

Image Image

Frederic Piquionne (West Ham) adidas F50 adizero

Piquionne had the honour of scoring the 10,000th Nike Premier League goal, although Nike may be congratulating him through gritted teeth as Piquionne was wearing adidas F50 adizero football boots. But boots aside, it is still an amazing feat by Nike to have notched their 10,000th goal in 10 years of supplying the Premier League ball.

Andres Iniesta (Barcelona) Nike CTR360 Maestri

Continuing our weekend of new football boots, Andres Iniesta was playing in the Blue Sapphire Nike CTR360 Maestri football boots, which are a great match for the Barca colours. We noticed Iniesta opted for the regular Maestri's and not the Elite's, and his sole-plate has been customised with additional rounded soft ground studs,

Grafite (Wolfsburg) adidas Predator PowerSwerve

It was an interesting spot to see two-goal hero Grafite, who has previously worn adidas adizero's, playing in Predator PowerSwerves. But more interesting because Grafite's PowerSwerves are customised to match the Wolfsburg kit, and interestingly Grafite also has the German flag embroided onto the tongue.

Clint Dempsey (Fulham) Nike T90 Laser Elite

Another surprise from the weekend was to see the player who scored the first competitive Superfly II goal, wearing the Nike Laser range. Clint Dempsey was in the Elite versions of the Laser football boots, which makes sense when you consider he is a forward player so would be looking to benefit from shooting technology.

Image Image

Steven Gerrard (Liverpool) adidas Predator X

Gerrard remained in his bespoke pair of adidas Predator X football boots and from what we understand, the only difference with Gerrard's football boots' is the gold detailing on the tongue, heel and sole-plate. Gerrard must be pleased though, as since he has worn his new boots he has scored three goals in two games!

Milos Krasic (Juventus) Puma v1.06

As players flock to the wear lightweight speed football boots, here's another player reminding us that speed innovation is a concept Puma successfully developed over four years. Many players are still wearing the v1.06 football boots, and the styling and colourway still looks good in today's market.

Matt Turk (Houston Texans) adidas F50 adizero

Okay, so it may not be the game we all know and love, but it's still football - just the American version! This one dropped into our inbox courtesy of Joachim Ravn, who spotted Turk has mixed his boots and is using the adidas F50 adizero's for his kicking foot, and a customised pair of adipure's for his standing foot!

Alex Song (Arsenal)
Nike CTR360 Maestri

Aaron Hughes (Fulham)
Mizuno Morelia

A great shot of Song and Mulumbu as they contend for the ball both wearing the new Blue Sapphire colourway for the Nike CTR360 range of boots, a classy stand-out colour.

It's not often you see a player wearing a quality heritage boot in the Premier League, so it was good to see Fulham defender Hughes wearing the latest pearl/black colourway for the Morelia boots.

Image Image

Mesut Ozil (Real Madrid)
Nike Vapor Superfly II

Lewis Holtby (Mainz)
Nike Vapor Superfly II

In the last six months Ozil has shot to fame, and become one of the leading Mercurial players along with team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo, so we expected to see Ozil in the Cherry Pink Vapors this weekend.

Germany Under-21 captain Lewis Holtby has continued to wear the brand new Pink Superfly colourway, after last weekend he became the first player to competitively score in this latest eye-catching Nike colour.

Boot spotting kudos goes to SoccerBible community members pcm19, Eion Hynes, Rodrigo V, Boot Hunter, Rob Burroughs, Dean Lynch, Jasper Boer, Minh-Luan Bui, ddchile, Steve Sharp and a whole load of others who sent in their boot spots.
