International Football Boots Spotting - 13/10/10
There's been some great International action this week, with a variety of football boots on show. Here's a selection of the boots that have caught the eye of our boot spotters...
Miroslav Klose (Germany) Nike Tiempo Legend Elite |
|
Miroslav Klose is a former Nike Legend wearer who made the switch into Nike T90 Laser football boots last season. But it now seems the German striker has returned to the Tiempo Legend range, after playing for Germany wearing the Elite versions, and interestingly it looks as though Klose has cut off the tongue. |
|
Osvaldo Martinez (Paraguay) Mizuno Morelia |
|
At first glance we thought Martinez was wearing a pair of blacked-out adizero's, and were intrigued by his customisation. But closer inspection revealed Martinez was wearing a pair of blacked-out Mizuno Morelia's, and like an old school pair of boots, had used tape to hold down the lace-cover. |
|
Loic Remy (France) Puma v1.08 |
|
We're intrigued that despite the release of both the v1.10 and v1.10 SL versions, Remy is sticking with his v1.08's. We remember this was also the case with Peter Crouch, which is a great testament to the performance of the Puma v1.08, but quite a damning verdict for the v1.10. |
|
Franz Burgmeier (Liechtenstein) adidas Predator Absolute |
|
We love an old school boot spot on the SoccerBible, so it was good to see Liechtenstein's Burgmeier in the Predator Absolute's. Many Predator fans will tell you these are their favourite incarnations, and we'll also stick our necks on the line and say the Absolute was the last Predator Kaka wore before he changing into adiPure's. |
|
Sergio Ramos (Spain) Nike T90 Laser III |
|
Ramos was sporting a mixed stud sole-plate with his regular Nike T90 Laser football boots, as Spain had a thrilling encounter with Scotland. We love the mixed stud sole-plate, but is frustrates us that the brands still don't release these versions on general sale, the pro's have proven how popular they could be. |
|
Ashley Young (England) |
Oleksandr Aliiev (Ukraine) |
Ashley Young wore the Cyan colourway of the adidas F50 adizero football boots to colour co-ordinate with the England kit, and Young had a great game as he was a constant attacking threat. |
We remember a time when almost every Nike player was wearing RED laces, but now spotting one has become quite a rare thing. The laces are a great compliment to Aliiev's yellow Superflys. |
Alexandre Pato (Brazil) |
Ivan Trickovski (Macedonia) |
In the past year Pato has switched between Vapor and Superfly, but it now seems the Brazilian superstar is settle in the Superfly versions, after playing and scoring in these Cherry versions . |
If the intention was for the Gold adizero's to be bespoke to Lionel Messi, obviously Trickovski didn't get the memo from adidas, as he was proudly wearing his gold boots against Russia. |
Ibrahim Afellay (Holland) |
Farid Guliyev (Azerbaijan) |
Afellay is touted as one of the most promising young midfielders in Europe, who scored an emphatic goal against Sweden. And his Puma PowerCat's are an interesting boot choice from a technically gifted player. |
Another old Vapor Superfly on show here, as Azerbaijan's Guliyev was wearing the black/volt versions. Although interestingly, these boots are only 15 months old! |
Tim Brown (New Zealand) |
John O'Shea (Ireland) |
New Zealand captain Tim Brown was sporting a pair of Nike Tiempo Premier football boots, a celebration of the classic boots that took World Cup 1994 by storm. |
John O'Shea has become the leading icon for the Concave football boots, which are an interesting concept that have received a mixed reaction from boot fans. |
Mesut Ozil (Germany) |
Ivan Vicelich (New Zealand) |
Despite being spotted last week wearing a pair of CTR360 Maestri football boots in training, Mesut Ozil is back in the Pink Superfly's when it comes to the business of inspiring Germany to victory. |
One of the more unique boot choices on show here, as Vicelich was playing in the lace-less Zhero Gravity Ultra football boots, a boot which the jury still seems to be out on. |
