MLS Cup Final 2010
Its a huge day for Major League Soccer this weekend as FC Dallas take on Colorado Rapids in the MLS Cup final. After a long MLS season for both sides, the stage is set for one side to claim their first ever MLS Cup on Sunday night!
FC Dallas will make club history by playing in the club's first Major League Soccer final in history but will have their work cut out for them as they face an in-form Colorado Rapids side. Here at SoccerBible, the boots that grace the pitch this Sunday will be as important as the outcome of the match. Neither team have any globally-known players but both sides have players and match-ups that will make this a very intriguing game. The opposing number 9's for each side will no doubt prove critical in determining the result.
Both Cunningham (Dallas) and Casey (Colorado) have boot choices you wouldn't necessarily associate with a forward player. Cunningham wears the classic adidas Copa Mundial football boots while Casey opts for the adidas adiPURE III football boots. An interesting change from the usual Superfly / adiZero boots seen on strikers across Europe.
Conor Casey of Colorado Rapids will be hoping to continue his lethal partnership with Omar Cummings, one of the most dangerous strikers in the MLS and a Puma v1.10 wearer. They work together to form the perfect pairing of size and speed and are the reason for 27 of the Rapid's goals this season. If they come out firing on Sunday it will be hard for Dallas to cope with their combined power and pace.
Dallas have arguably had the tougher run to the final, having to defeat the reigning MLS champions Real Salt Lake in the quarter-finals and then overturn LA Galaxy in the semi-final. They'll certainly be lacking no confidence heading into the final. All signs point to a great final and one that really could go either way. Here at SoccerBible we'll be keeping our eyes out for any good boot-spots that might hit the pitch!
So, which team deserves to be crowned MLS Champions 2010 - FC Dallas or Colorado Rapids, we'd love to hear your thoughts...
