Darren Fletcher Interview
SoccerBible recently had the opportunity to catch up with one of Manchester United's midfield general's, whose football career has seen him gradually become one of the key figures at Old Trafford.
After a relatively slow start at Manchester United that involved criticism from club legend Roy Keane, Fletcher has tarnished the label of 'Fergie's Son' to go on and be an integral part of a Championship, FA Cup, Carling Cup, and Champions League winning Manchester United side.
To coincide with the recent release of the new adidas adiPURE IV football boots, SoccerBible fired some boot-related questions at the Scottish midfielder to find out what he made of his new boots...
|
DF: I really like the new adiPURE IVs - I ve always been a fan of classic boots andthese new ones match that style whilst being very comfortable which ideal for me.
SB: Are you a fan of the classic colourway?
DF: Absolutely! I ve always preferred traditional colours in my boots. Occasionally I ll go for something a bit more out there but generally stick to black and white.
SB: You're not tempted by brightly coloured boots, like your team-mate Nani?
DF: Sometimes! Nani is wearing the real bright adidas F50s at the moment and they certainly stand out.
SB: Do you prefer a leather upper over synthetic, and what benefits are there for you?
|
SB: Can you remember the first pair of football boots you ever bought?
DF: No I can t actually! I started playing football when I was very young so I m not sure on that one.
|
The swerve took it right into the corner of the net. It was one of those that as soon as I connected I knew it was flying in.
SB: What's your career highlight?
DF: I m fortunate enough to play for Manchester United so have been involved in some great triumphs with the club. I think the most special to me was probably the first Premier League win I was involved in.
SB: Who was your sporting idol when you were younger?
DF: From a football point of view I thought Fernando Redondo was a fantastic player - it was so unfortunate that he had so many problems with injury.
SB: What's the best piece of advice you've been given in your career?
SB: In your opinion, who is currently the best footballer in the world?
|
SB: Are there any matches this season that you're particularly looking forward to?
DF: It's always fantastic to play in the ''big'' games in the Premier League.
I think this season is so competitive there are no easy games at all. Playing against the like of Arsenal and Chelsea is always special. The fans always make the atmostphere incredible and we know how important it is to win those big games. |
SB: Would you prefer to win the Champions League this season or reclaim the Premier League title from Chelsea?
DF: Tough question! I think I'll have to say the Premier League.
