Global Football Boots Spotting - 07/11/11
It was an action-packed weekend as the adizero miCoach sneakily made its way onto pitches across Europe! It was adidas' adizero elite who stole the headlines as they became accustomed to their new blacked-out footwear. As always, we've selected the best spots from across the globe! See who's made it in this week and share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
Heung-Min Son (Hamburg) adidas F50 adizero miCoach |
Hamburg's Heugn-Min Son must have some good connections at his club! On a week-end when Europe's adizero elite were testing blacked-out versions of the F50 adizero miCoach, the Hamburg striker had already gotten his hands on a pair of the Energy/White/Electricity launch colourway, giving us our first-look at the synthetics in action! |
Alan Silva (SC Braga) Puma v1.11 Football Boots |
A new Puma colourway joined the party this weekend, with Brazilian and SC Braga forward giving a new yellow/purple v1.11 colourway its first on pitch performance! We're expecting to see a lot more of this boot as we count down to Christmas. The Puma v1.11 has been a real hit since its launch. It will be interesting to see if Aguero and co. make the update to this colourway! |
David Beckham (LA Galaxy) adidas adipower Predator DB |
David Beckham and the LA Galaxy emerged as winners over Real Salt Lake in the MLS Western Conference final. Beckham was in action wearing his recently-revealed adipower Predator DB football boots, serving up the assist for Galaxy's second goal in their 3-1 win. They now face the Houston Dynamo's as they seek their third MLS crown on November 20. |
Lionel Messi (Barcelona) adidas F50 adizero miCoach |
Messi was on hand to provide the added time equaliser which saved Barcelona's blushes at the hands of Athletic Bilbao. In a rain-soaked epic that ended 2-2, Messi couldn't find the same magic that he displayed on his adizero miCoach debut last week. Barcelona now sit three points behind leaders Real Madrid who hit seven past Osasuna on Sunday. |
Gareth Bale (Tottenham) adidas F50 adizero miCoach |
Gareth Bale was yet another adizero player to be sporting a blacked-out pair of the new miCoach editions. Currently being premiered by Lionel Messi, the likes of Bale, Alves and Suarez are having to settle for blacked-out versions for the time being. |
Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona) Puma PowerCat 1.12 |
Cesc Fabregas added another goal to his impressive Barcelona goal-count during the Catalan's tough away fixture to Athletic Bilbao. Featuring personalisation on the outside and a custom Puma-King sole-pate, Cesc's PowerCat 1.12 boots still looked the part in the awful conditions! Barca's star-studded midfield now has a great variation of boots, with Cesc, Xavi (adiPower), Iniesta (CTR) and Alcantara (T90)! |
Henri Bedimo (Montpellier) Nike iD Mercurial Vapor VII |
We're not sure what to make of Henri Bedimo's Nike iD Vapor VII boots. The Montpellier defender has seemingly taken to the Nike iD studios to create an interesting colourway for his Vapor boots! A good effort by the Cameroonian but sometimes it's best left to the professional Nike designers! |
Jonathan Zebina (Brest) adidas adiPURE IV |
Brest defender Jonatahn Zebina has left us scratching our heads. The Frenchman has given his adiPURE IV football boots some unique black-marker treatment, we're just not sure what he was trying to achieve! From what we can tell, these are the White/Black/Splash colourway, but with some strange white and black paint-work, you could easily be mistaken! |
Luis Suarez (Liverpool) adidas F50 adizero miCoach |
There were a host of top adizero players giving Lionel Messi his moment in the limelight and allowing the F50 man to star in the new miCoach versions, whilst players like Suarez appeared in blacked-out versions this weekend. |
Unknown Player (Al Sadd) Mizuno Wave Cup |
We're unsure of who this player is, but he plays for the newly crowned AFC Champions League winners Al Sadd. The Qatar team defeated South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, and although we don't know if this player was subbed on, we still think his Mizuno Wave Cup football boots look great as a modern day replica of Rivaldo's boots. |
Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) adidas Predator Precision |
This weekend Cristiano picked up the Golden Boot Award as Europe's top goalscorer in 2011, and we couldn't help but notice the boot was a golden adidas Predator Precision! Quite fittingly though, Ronaldo showed his prowess in front of goal as he bagged himself a hat-trick in Real's 7-1 victory over Osasuna. |
Alvaro Barragan (FC Porto) Puma v1.11 SL |
A unique look from FC Porto's Barragon here, the left-back hasn't modified his football boots instead he's threaded an orange pair of laces through his green Puma v1.11 SL football boots. Interestingly, we can tell from the lace tips that the laces Barragan has threaded are from a Nike Tiempo, we wonder where he got them from? |
Daniel Brueckner (SC Paderborn) adidas adipower Predator SL |
Adidas Predator SL spots are rare. So rare that you have to travel to the German Second Division to get a spot! SC Paderborn's Daniel Brueckner was spotted wearing the super-light Predator adidas football boots as his side took on FC Energie Cottbus. Maybe we'll see more of the Predator SL soon, with updated colourways expected in the new year. |
Mark Schwarzer (Fulham) adidas adiPower Predator |
As he wears Mitre gloves, Mark Schwarzer has previously been wearing Miter football boots also. However, now the Fulham goalkeeper has decide to switch into the adiPower Predators, and by the looks of it he's going to stay in them as they've been personalised with the Australian flag. |
Cole Skuse (Bristol City) Pantofola football boots |
A spot from one of the lower leagues here, as Bristol City's Cole Skuse is spotted wearing a pair of Pantofola d'Oro football boots. From what we understand, Skuse has been a faithful of the Pantofola d'Oro's for some time now. |
