Global Football Boots Spotting - 23/01/12

Beat your Monday blues with the latest instalment of SoccerBible bootspotting. The Premier League wasn't short of a high profile game or two, as the African Cup of Nations also kicked-off. There was no shortage of sightings from the Premier League to Serie A. See what players and boots have made the cut this week. Share your thoughts online, on Twitter and on Facebook.

Winston Reid (West Ham) Nike Mercurial Superfly I

This isn't the first time West Ham midfielder Winston Reid has caught our eye. The New Zealand international has been wearing his blacked-out Superfly I football boots since the later months of last year. Reid has given his retro Mercurials a great paint job, but judging from the laces these could be the Orion Blue Superfly boots from 2009.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal) Nike CTR360 Maestri II

Manchester United kept the pressure on Premier League leaders Manchester City with a vital win at Arsenal. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was one of the most impressive players in action on a disappointing night for the Gunners. The Arsenal youngster was wearing his personalised #makeitcountCTR360 Nike football boots.

Gareth Barry (Manchester City) adidas adiPure 11Pro

They haven't had a flurry of players step out in them, but Gareth Barry ensured the new adiPure 11Pro had some Premier League representation at the weekend, wearing his new Black/White/Slime boots as the league leaders took on Tottenham. Other adiPure pro's including Frank Lampard and Bastian Schweinsteiger are yet to make the switch.

Jonas Gutierrez (Newcastle) Umbro Geometra Pro

Jonas Guitierrez was one of Newcastle s stand-out players during their Premier League fixture with Fulham wearing the recently released Black/Green/RedUmbro Geometra Pro football boots. With Newcastle still sitting high in sixth place, the Geometra is getting good exposure with the likes of Guitierrez and Henderson both headlining the boots professional line up.

Joey Barton (Queens Park Rangers) adidas Predator adiPower

QPR captain Joey Barton was back in action after a recent suspension as his side took on fellow Premier League survival hopefuls, Wigan. The midfielder continues to make attempts to disguise his adiPower football boots, with some black marker customisation being given to the outside of both boots.

Gervinho (Ivory Coast) Nike iD Mercurial Superfly II

One of the weeks best spots came from the Ivory Coast's African Cup of Nations opener against Sudan. Arsenal midfielder Gervinho was in action wearing a pair of suitably coloured Superfly II football boots as Didier Drogba captained the tournament favourites to a 1-0 winning start. It was an unexpected departure for Gervinho from his usual Superfly III boots.

Marcel Schaefer (Wolfsburg) Under Armour Hydrastrike Pro

Marcel Schaefer has been a regular Under Armour wearer since last year when he put in a number of performances wearing the Dominate Pro. The Wolfsburg full back is now firmly settled in the alternative control-focused Under Armour Hyderstrike. Much like the Nike CTR, the contrasting two-tone colourway makes these boots immediately noticeable on pitch!

Marek Hamsik (Napoli) Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite

As one of Europe's most exciting attacking players, Marek Hamsik might not be the type of Nike player you'd expect to wear the Nike Tiempo range. After spending a brief spell in the CTR360, the Napoli midfielder continues to attract interest from Europe's top clubs wearing his trusted Tiempo's. Hamsik was in action wearing the recently released White/Red/Silver colourway.

Hugo Rodallega (Wigan) Nike iD Mercurial Superfly II

Hugo Rodallega decided to give his Nike iD Superfly II boots another run-out at the weekend. The Columbian internationals unique boots have become famous over the past year, with Rodallega bringing them out of his locker on a number of occasions. We might be seeing them again next week after the Wigan striker found the back of the net in his sides 3-1 league defeat to QPR.

Ignacio Camacho (Malaga) adidas Predator DB adiPower

It was Lionel Messi's second appearance wearing the new Blue/White/Energyadizero miCoach football boots during Barcelona's 4-1 defeat of Malaga. But Spanish U21 international Ignacio Camacho claimed the bootspotting plaudits after wearing the latest DB adiPower Predator. This isn't Camacho's first pair of DB boots, with the midfielder being known for wearing a number of previous Beckham Preds.

Ashkan Dejagah (Wolfsburg) Nike Mercurial Superfly I

Wolfsburg's Ashkan Dejagah must have an impressive collection of Mercurial Superfly I football boots. The midfielder is clearly a big fan of the original Superfly, having worn a number of colourways over the past year. After a surprise performance in the Volt Superfly III last week, the Iranian was back in his trusted Max Orange/Silver boots for his sides clash with Koeln.
