The Chance Is Back - Pep Guardiola's First Find
This week Nike embarks on an epic six-month journey spanning 55 countries and five different continents. Their mission? To unearth the planet s best unsigned footballing talent. Spearheaded by Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola and conducted by an extensive global scouting network that includes some of the most distinguished names in football, Nike's global talent search is officially under-way.
Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola has launched Nike's 2012 search after identifying his first entry choice into the 100 places available in Spain's national finals. Manchester United and England s Rio Ferdinand will lead the UK scouting team while Laurent Blanc and Jurgen Klinsmann will also be involved in the scouting process.
Of the 100 players who are chosen for each national Final, 3 will progress to the global finals in Barcelona where 16 unsigned athletes will be selected to form an elite squad that will travel the globe, training with the world s best professional teams and playing against the most prestigious academy sides.
The Chance has an impressive track record - two of last year s winners, Tobi Amokeodo and Titi Accam are playing full-time in the Premier League-affiliated Nike Academy, whilst a third, Tom Rogic, has recently signed a contract with Central Coast Mariners, an Australian A-League club.
From the USA to Ghana, China to Peru, the global search is on. Think you have what it takes? Sign up http://go.nike.com/The_Chance
