As the opening match of UEFA EURO 2012 approaches, the world s attention turns to the greatest players and teams in European football. Poland Ukraine is a time for individuals to stand up and be counted, to take their chance to shine on the world stage, but who will it be?
In the latest exclusive video interview from official tournament sponsor, Carlsberg, the brand s global ambassador Peter Schmeichel picks his potential stars of the tournament and reflects on what it takes to be a hero.
The former Denmark goalkeeper identifies a young German player with a bright future, talks about Cristiano Ronaldo and believes the young star of the tournament could be a player from his native Denmark.
I think we will see a lot of good goalkeeping this time around in the European Championships 2012. So many good goalkeepers are around but I am particularly looking forward to seeing Manuel Neuer - the German goalkeeper. I think he is probably one of the biggest talents ever. 
Schmeichel identified one of his home country talents to have a breakthrough tournament. I hope the great young star is going to be Christian Eriksen, the young Danish attacking midfielder. He s number 10, he plays for Ajax and he s done really well for them. He has done extremely well for Denmark too. I hope for him that the European Championship 2012 is going to be his big breakthrough on the international scene.
