Global Football Boots Spotting - 24/09/12

Global Football Boots Spotting - 24/09/12

One brand in particular put on quite a spectacle this weekend, as new Nike football boots dominated pitches around the globe. But it wasn't all Nike making the Boot Spotting headlines, as we have a host of players doing their own thing when it comes to footwear, along with one or two clearly having contract differences...

Fernando Torres (Chelsea) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

We never really expected Fernando Torres to move into the new T90 colourway - after all, he's a self confessed lover of white boots. Even so, it was a surprise to see Chelsea's no.9 step out wearing a custom pair of white Tiempo Legend IV football boots during his sides match with Stoke City. It will be interesting to see if he reverts back to the T90 Clash colourway or sticks with his Tiempos!

Hatem Ben Arfa (Newcastle) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Newcastle's no.10 showed why he's one of the Premier Leagues most exciting wingers with another inspiring performance against Norwich. The Frenchman was one of many Mercurial players to debut the new colourway as Newcastle overcame The Canaries 1-0 at home. In another spot, Norwich midfielder Jonathan Howson was spotted wearing the adiPure 11Pro SL.

Klass Jan Huntelaar (Schalke) Nike T90 Laser IV

The new Nike collection has been well received so far and despite being worn by a countless number of T90 players, the new Laser IV colourway could be the one to spark the most debate! Klass Jan Huntelaar was in action for Schalke wearing the bright red boots as his side suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Matias Cahais (Racing Club) adidas adiPure 11Pro

It wasn't all about Europe at the weekend. In the Argentine Primera Division, we were given a rare spot of the black-out adiPure 11Pro football boots on the feet of Racing Club's defender Matias Cahais. With all the new Nike colourways on show this week, it's easy to forget how good an all black boot still looks! Undoubtedly one of our favourite boots of the year.

Joleon Lescott (Manchester City) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

There was a lot of love for the new Tiempo colourway at the weekend with the boots already being labelled as Nike's best yet. They certainly left an impression following their debut weekend, with Joleon Lescott and Ashley Cole both finding the back of the net in the Premier League. In another spot, out-of-contract Gael Clichy was in action wearing the Puma King SL.

Glenn Murray (Crystal Palace) adidas Predator LZ

A look into the Championship here as Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray, a long-term adidas Predator wearer, decides he's had enough of the Three Stripes. But literally just the stripes, as he continued to wear adidas Predator football boots, but with a blacked-out upper. If Murray is a superstitious player we can see him wearing these boots for a while, after he netted a hat-trick to defeat Cardiff 3-2.

Angel Dealbert (Kuban Krasnodar) Joma?

Our football boots knowledge stretches quite far, but even we couldn't identify Angel Dealbert's mystery Joma football boots he was spotted wearing in the Russian league during FC Rubin Kazan's match with FC Kuban Krasnodar. The black and orange boots seem to feature an instep graphic across the forefoot. If anyone can confirm the model, leave a line in the comments!

Rodriguez Ribair (Siena) adidas F50 adizero

It's hard to argue against Rodriquez Ribair's no-nonsense adizero design when you look at Siena's home colours. The midfielder was spotted wearing a miadidas creation of the second generation f50 adizero as his side claimed an unlikely victory over Inter Milan at the San Siro.

Guillermo Vallori (1860 Munich) Nike Tiempo Legend IV

1860 Munich defender Guillermo Vallori is worthy of a shout-out as much for his sides super-retro kit as for his new Nike Tiempo boots. The second division German side, who play their home matches at the Allianz Arena, were in league action against Eintracht Braunschweig. One thing that also makes their chequered kit even cooler - it's sponsored by Aston Martin!

Bojan Jokic (Chievo) Mizuno Morelia Neo

Bojan Jokic must have been pleased when he saw the new Chievo kits for the 2012/13 season. He'd already been wearing the green and black Morelia Neo's, and match them up with the Chievo away kit and you've got quite an effective look. We're hoping Jokic isn't too concerned with wearing the most up-to-date boots, because arguably colour coordination is equally as cool as wearing the latest releases.

James McClean (Sunderland) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

He's becoming a bootspotting regular! We fully expected James McClean to get his hands on the new Mercurial Vapor VIII colourway. The Republic of Ireland international has demonstrated his love for football boots in recent weeks, wearing the Nike GS and f50 adiZero Graphic. So it was no surprise to see him waste no time in landing a pair of Nike's latest Vapor colourway.

Benjamin Kern (MSV Duisburg) Hummel Rapid X

It's not every day that Hummel gets a mention in our weekly bootspotting. But MSV Duisburg midfielder Benjamin Kern gave the Hummel Rapid X an appearance in his sides match with VfL Bochum. Kern was formerly an adizero man but has switched his allegiances to the Danish brand with the Hummel Rapid X.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

Real Madrid's La Liga match with Rayo Vallecano may have been postponed after the stadiums floodlights were 'sabotaged', but we still managed to get a glimpse of Cristiano Ronaldo sporting the new Mercurial Vapor VIII colourway. After being Nike's only key face to wear the Seaweed/Volt colourway, Ronaldo has joined the rest of Nike's Mercurial roster in adopting the latest design.

Wesley Sneijder (Inter Milan) Nike T90 Laser IV

Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder remains one of Nike's key faces for the T90 line and was spotted wearing the new colourway in his sides Serie A match with AC Siena. The Italian giants suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat to bottom of the table Siena at the San Siro as things continue to go wrong for the Nerazzuri.

Alvaro Pereira (Inter Milan) Nike Mercurial Vapor VIII

After his Champions League appearance wearing the f50 adizero, we were curious to see what boots Inter Milan full back Alvaro Pereira would turn out wearing at the weekend. The Uruguay international was back wearing his familiar blacked-out Mercurial Vapor VIII football boots. Pereira isn't the most consistent with his boot choices, having also appeared in the Predator LZ.

Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace) Nike GS

Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie joins the growing list of lower-league professional to wear the Nike GS. You know a player has a thing for football boots if they've managed to land a pair of these highly limited boots! With only 2012 pairs made worldwide, you had to be quick. Palace came back from 2-0 down against Cardiff to claim an unlikely 3-2 win.

Marco Borriello (Genoa) Akuna Cinquestelle ColibrÌ

To say Marco Borriello is a long-term Vapor wearer is quite an understatement, they've been the one constant as the Italian striker has moved between four different clubs. So it came as quite a surprise to our boot spotters when Borriello wore an anonymous pair of blacked out football boots this weekend. With no clear markings we were unsure of what football boots Borriello was wearing, but we knew we could rely on the knowledge of the SoccerBible fans to provide the answer. Thanks goes to ale5superfly who identified Borriello's boots as Akuna Cinquestelle ColibrÌ, certainly an interesting choice and one we'll be keeping an eye on.

If there are any players boots that you've spotted and think we should feature, mail us at: u2us@soccerbible.com putting 'Boot Spotting' in the subject field.
