SB Meets Javi Martinez - adidas Nitrocharge
The launch of the new adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 has challenged adidas with mustering a new squad of players, players who will wear the boot on the grandest stages in world football. On set for the adidas Nitrocharge commercial in Barcelona' s Estadi Olimpic, we caught up the three players selected to headline the Nitrocharge roster.
Spanish playmaker Javi Martinez has lived up to his hefty price-tag since signing for Bayern Munich last year. The combative midfielder has emerged as a dominant weapon for the Bundesliga champions. An imposing player with raw physicality, Martinez is a perfect fit for the new adidas Nitrocharge.
Martinez was first picked up by adidas during his early years with Osasuna and has since taken large strides in his career. Martinez was part of the Spanish squad that won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Cup. Now with Champions League success in his sights, it seems like adidas have timed his moved into the Nitrocharge quite perfectly.
"It's seven or six years since I first signed a contract with adidas and it's been one of the best decisions I've made in my life. From the beginning adidas have helped me a lot. They have treated me like a member of the family. I am very happy with the way everything is progressing and I think that every time adidas surpass themselves."
Martinez was one of three athletes chosen by adidas to star in the explosive new ad. "I've had a great time (filming). I've been really comfortable with all the people and I've done a lot of funny things today. Everything that is football I enjoy. Today's been different because they've been filming me but I've tried to forget a little bit about the cameras."
The adidas Nitrocharge is a hard-hitting blend of innovation and style. For Martinez, he'll be wearing the boots on the grandest stage of all in the Champions League final. "These boots are designed for a midfielder that needs to run constantly and that needs a lot of energy. These boots are perfect for that." Hear more from Javi in the video above.
