Benzema, Özil & Morata Help Launch Real Madrid Away Kit
Madrid trio launch new adidas away kit
Benzema, Özil Morata attend kit launch at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid players Karim Benzema, Mesut Özil and Alvaro Morata turned out to help launch their sides new adidas away strip at the Santiago Bernabeu. Fresh from the official unveiling, the Madrid trio were on call to present the blue away strip that's been well received since being unveiled for the first time this week.
The mixture of press and fans in attendance were greeted by a huge curtain that dropped to reveal the three players sat on a stage styled up to look like a locker room. Benzema, Özil and Morata all spent time doing a Q A and meeting a handful of young Madridistas.
As well as answering questions on the new kit, the players touched on the coming season. Looking forward to the coming campaign Benzema stated, "After this summer I feel more confident and I really want to do things right. We start the season pushing hard to try making people happy this year."
As we said yesterday we were massively impressed with the new away strip which is the first to use the "melange" fabric. The new fabric has a cotton finish and helps to achieve a retro look that has been inspired by some of the club's former jerseys whilst also featuring all of adidas' latest technologies.
After releasing the new home kit, adidas and Real Madrid wanted to create an away kit that was inspired by an unmistakable retro style. The combination of colours, royal blue with white, mimics some of the away kits worn during the illustrious period of the 30s, 40s and 50s. Refreshed this time with a touch of orange creating a continuous link in style with the home shirt.
The shorts and socks are the same colour as the shirt to give the kit a distinctive and full look. Ronaldo and co. will get the chance to kit up in the new Real Madrid strip when they travel to Granada on August 25 for their first La Liga away game. Real Madrid will have to improve on their away record from last season if they're to have any hope of winning the title, the club failed to win 10 of their 19 games on the road last season.
