Global Boot Spotting - 11/11/13
Global Boot Spotting - 11/11/13
The pick of the week's best football boots from across the globe.
It was a big weekend for adidas as their new Samba Collection made a dominant on pitch debut to mark the countdown to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. A new generation F50 and 11Pro both featured in another action packed week of football and boot spotting...
Luis Suarez (Liverpool) adidas adizero F50 |
Luis Suarez wasted no time in notching his first goals wearing the new Samba Edition adizero F50. The Liverpool striker opted for the solar blue colourway and bagged a brace against Fulham as the Reds ran out 4-0 winners at Anfield closing the gap to just 2 points at the top of the Premier League. |
Jonathan Walters (Stoke City) adidas Copa Mundial |
The white/black adidas Copa Mundial hasn t seen much on pitch action since the limited edition release in September but Jonathan Walters laced up and scored in a pair as his Stoke side drew 3-3 away at Swansea yesterday. The white/black Copa was launched 31 years after the original and it's good to see such a classic still performing at the top of the game. |
Juraj Kucka (Genoa) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 |
Another player to mark his first game in the new adidas Samba Edition boots with a goal was Genoa's Juraj Kucka. The Slovakian international scored his team's second goal wearing the new Nitrocharge as Genoa saw off Verona 2-0 in Serie A. The solar slime paint job is the most eccentric yet to feature on the Nitrocharge and packed a strong presence combined with the bright orange laces. |
Sergio Floccari (Lazio) Mizuno Morelia Neo |
The Italians know how to do style and Sergio Floccari demonstrated that at the weekend by matching up his Lazio kit with the white/black/blue Mizuno Morelia Neo as his side drew 1-1 with Parma. We've always got a lot of time for a decent kit/boot combo. |
Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht) adidas 11Pro adiPURE |
He might have been mocked by Zlatan about his "terrible moustache" but his boot choice was top notch. Anderlecht's Sacha Kljestan was one of the first players to wear the new Samba Edition 11Pro this week as he gave the next generation boot a slightly premature debut in the Champions League. |
Frankie Artus (Hereford United) adidas Predator adiPower |
On a weekend where new adidas boots dominated pitches worldwide Hereford's Frankie Artus was in action wearing the Predator adiPower. The adiPower was launched in 2011 and to many players is known as the last traditional Predator, mainly due to the classic black/white/red colourway. |
Fernando Llorente (Juventus) adidas Predator LZ |
From an old classic Pred to the latest model. Fernando Llorente was one of many players at the weekend sporting the new solar pink Predator LZ, launched as part of the adidas Samba Collection. It took Llorente just three minutes to give his new Preds a scoring debut as Juventus beat Napoli 3-0. |
Adam Lallana (Southampton) PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 |
Fresh off the back of his England call up Adam Lallana put in another top class performance for Southampton on Saturday as the Saints continued their outstanding start to the season by beating Hull 4-1. In support of the Royal British Legion PUMA personalised all their players' boots, including Lallana's evoSPEED's with a poppy. Nice touch. |
Gareth Bale (Real Madrid) adidas adizero F50 |
Gareth Bale slipped into the next generation F50 as Real Madrid hammered Real Sociedad 5-1 at the weekend. Bale opted for the brighter solar zest colourway and his standard pair of TruSox but it was his new best mate Ronaldo who stole the headlines with another hat trick. |
James Troisi (Melbourne Victory) adidas Predator LZ SL |
Not a new colourway but a rare one at that. James Troisi's unmissable Predator LZ SL's caught the eye as Melbourne Victory took on Wellington Pheonix. The stripped down lighter Predator is, on paper, the ultimate football boot, a perfect mix of the Pred's ball control technology and the F50's lightweight structure but for whatever reason doesn't get much on pitch time. |
Hernane (Flamengo) adidas adizero F50 |
There's always one isn't there? This time it was Flamengo's Hernane who took a punt on the odd boots look by wearing both new F50 colourways on each foot. Maybe he couldn't decide which pair he liked most... it's definitely one way to stand out anyway. |
Renee Rollason (Sydney FC) adidas Copa Mundial |
Another white/black Copa Mundial spot at the weekend came via the feet of Sydney FC's Renee Rollason. Rather than tucking the tongue under the laces like Stoke's Jonathan Walters did, Rollason opted to let it hang free with an old school double wrapped round lace, haven't seen that for a long time! |
Yannick Bolasie (Crystal Palace) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX CR Galaxy |
Yannick Bolasie needs his own section in boot spotting, he's in it every week! We'd love to see his full collection of boots. The Crystal Palace midfielder turned out in another new pair of boots against Everton, this time it was the Nike CR Galaxy Mercurial. We've already seen him wear a custom blue HyperVenom, PUMA Ferrari's, Nike GS and PUMA v1.11 SL boots this season. |
