Global Boot Spotting - 30/12/13
The pick of the week's best football boots from across the globe.
As the majority of Europe enjoyed a winter break over Christmas the football came thick and fast in Britain. With most clubs playing three games in a week we've picked out the best of the boot spotting action from the festive period...
Jamie Vardy (Leicester City) NikeiD HyperVenom |
Leicester City continued their charge towards the Premier League over Christmas by recording 3 consecutive wins to sit top of the table going into the new year. Jamie Vardy was the pick of the Foxes' boot spotting yesterday as he laced up in custom HyperVenoms in his sides 5-3 win over Bolton. |
Paulo Gazzaniga (Southampton) Nike Mercurial Vapor IX |
Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga opted for an odd boot choice in more ways than one as his side hammered Cardiff 3-0 on Boxing Day. The Saints stopper made the strange decision to wear a volt Mercurial on his left foot and a black/white one on his right. |
Samuel Eto'o (Chelsea) PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 |
Samuel Eto'o moved into the latest PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 colourway over the festive period and clinched the all important winning goal in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Liverpool at Stamford Bridge. The new blue/peach update was also released in an SL version but Eto'o was opted to remain in the standard editions. |
Ruben Zadkovich (Newcastle Jets) adidas Nitrocharge 1.0 |
Newcastle Jets midfielder Ruben Zadkovich was in action over Christmas wearing the low key black/slime adidas Nitrocharge colourway. Launched at the start of December the black/slime edition was part of the adidas black collection which saw toned down colourways land across each silo. |
Joel Robles (Everton) Nike Mercurial Vapor VII |
With Tim Howard suspended Joel took over responsibilities between the sticks for Everton against Southampton and his rare appearance produced a pair of custom all white Nike Mercurial Vapor VII boots. Joel had completely plastered his boots in all white to hide any branding and create a clean and simplistic look. |
Trevor Carson (Portsmouth) Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarini |
Another goalkeeper that caught our eye at the weekend was Portsmouth's Trevor Carson. Pompey's keeper went old school with his boot choice by lacing up in a pair of Pantofola d'Oro Lazzarinis. In a game where new innovation and crazy colourways dominate football pitches the Lazzarini still holds its own as one of the coolest football boots around. |
Zico (Brazil Legends) adidas Copa Mundial |
Zico was flagging a bit as he struggled through a Brazil legends game at the Maracana. One of the world's greatest in his playing days Zico turned out in a pair of classic adidas Copa Mundials and kept a spare Brazuca ball up his shirt throughout the game. |
Olivier Giroud Santi Cazorla (Arsenal) PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 |
Arsenal duo Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla both moved into the new PUMA evoSPEED 1.2 colourway on boxing day against West Ham. Giroud was on target yesterday as Arsenal go into the new year on top of the pile after edging out Newcastle 1-0 at St James' Park. |
Kevin Nolan (West Ham United) adidas adiPURE 11Pro |
Kevin Nolan was instrumental in West Ham's 3-3 draw with West Brom on Saturday. The Hammers midfielder has recently ended his stint in PUMA Kings and has switched into the latest generation adidas adiPURE 11Pro. |
Nicolas Anelka (West Brom) Nike HyperVenom |
Nicolas Anelka rolled back the years with a brace at the weekend. The West Brom veteran striker was wearing the Neo Lime Nike HyperVenom as his quick fire goals just before half time helped West Brom on their way to pick up a valuable point at Upton Park. |
