We round-up the action from Nike's 'Most Wanted' UK Trials in London where players battled for a place in the Global Showcase Final.
Nike’s ‘Most Wanted’ - the program previously known as ‘The Chance’ - is back for its fourth season and last week held its UK trials in London at QPR’s training ground. Tryouts have been taking place throughout September ahead of the Most Wanted Global Showcase Final, where 40-60 players will battle to earn a spot at the Nike Academy at St. George’s Park. We sent a member of the SoccerBible team along to the Imperial College Sports Ground to capture the action from the London trials first hand.
The boys kicked off their morning by selecting their boot of choice from Nike’s new four-silo collection and after a few words from QPR’s Nedum Onuoha, were put through a series of training exercises before the battle to reach the global finals intensified in an XI on XI match. QPR club captain Joey Barton was on hand to give the boys a few words of encouragement before and after the game and at the final whistle helped the Nike Academy coaches make the final decision based on speed, technique, pitch intelligence and conditioning. Hundreds of London’s finest applied but only two would make the cut and after an intense day were announced as the UK finalists who will go on to compete in the Global Showcase Final.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow the players journey. Let us know what you think below.
