Paul Pogba isn't the only thing Manchester United have signed this week. The Red Devils have also penned a three-year global deal with EA Sports which will install the FIFA creators as the club's official video games partner.
So, what does that mean? Basically more United coverage in trailers, screenshots, promotion of the game etc as a lead partner. Starting with the red half of the city starring in the trailer of FIFA 17 'The Journey' – a new feature where gamers can start as a youth team player and work their way through the ranks, right up to international level. The full video is below if you haven't already watched it.
As well as more prominent roles in trailers, EA Sports will also now be able to host FIFA 17 tournaments amongst Manchester United players in gaming pods at Old Trafford. The days of playing with Man Red on Pro Evo 4 seem like a generation ago, a beautiful generation indeed, but in terms of progression and technology, ancient. Especially when you consider Marcus Rashford was seven years old when that came out, now look at him... now look at us... approaching thirty, still playing video games in our pants and eating takeaways on Friday nights.
