They're kind of a big deal. MLS new boys L.A.F.C. unveiled their club crest yesterday and there was a surprise in store at the press conference as comedy legend Will Ferrell announced himself as a co-owner of the club.
About 25 minutes into the presentation, where representatives revealed the club's crest and colours Ferrell walked onto the stage with a chair, putting it down between co-owner Peter Guber and L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti before announcing, “This is not a joke, I’m actually a member of this fine ownership group. I’ve never been a part-owner of anything,” Ferrell said before correcting himself. “Actually I’m still part-owner of an ‘84 Toyota Camry with my brother."
The club will join MLS for the 2018 season and already have plans in place for a purpose built $250m stadium next to the Coliseum and Ferrell joins an already high profile line-up of members including Magic Johnson, Guber, and Mia Hamm-Garciaparra and her husband, former baseball star Nomar Garciaparra.
