He's a nice chap that Cristiano Ronaldo, you know? Yeah, he's a success driven machine with a selfish streak that has fuelled his trophy haul, but when it comes down to the things that matter, he's a good egg.
With his trophy cabinet reaching capacity the Real Madrid man donated one of his four Ballon d’Or awards to the Make-a-Wish foundation for a charity auction where it eventually sold for €600,000. The man behind the winning bid, according to MARCA anyway, was Israel's richest person, Idan Ofer. Yep, an Ofer they couldn't refuse and all that.
Going once for €600k... going twice... going three times... sold.
Cristiano Ronaldo gets given a lot of stick for his selfish approach on the pitch but giving up one of the trophies he worked so hard to achieve shows the character of the man. Respect Ron, top stuff. The Make-A-Wish Foundation works tirelessly to give desperately ill children a piece of enjoyment that they richly deserve. We can't see CR7 auctioning off any more of his Ballon d'Ors but you can make a donation here if you wished to do so.
