The home of Dublin based Bohemians FC, Dalymount Park, sits as a corner stone to Irish football. A raw theatre for a beautiful game, its terraced setting and corrugated style tells the tale of football romance. No glitz, just rock and roll glamour. Now it's about to get a makeover. Embracing a farewell season, this short film showcases what makes this stadium just so special.
Dublin is one of the many cities that will host fixtures as part of the EURO 2020 tournament. The megastructure of Aviva Stadium will be the venue of choice when that comes around, however as part of the legacy that the Football Association of Ireland would like the tournament to leave, it will be Dalymount Park that reaps the lasting rewards. A proposed 10,000 seater stadium is set to replace the current ground, which has been home to Bohemians since 1901. Having hosted international fixtures up until 1990, this lets the international game offer something back to a ground that has given so many memories.
Once the redevelopment is completed, it is being reported that fellow city dwellers Shelbourne FC will also share the new stadium with Bohemians. Local rivals maybe, they'll be more than just neighbours come 2020. Regardless, the film above is a beautiful way to mark a milestone ground.
