David Beckham was back in London on Monday night to front his signature adidas Capsule Collection and showcase the reinvented Predator Accelerator on the eve of its eagerly anticipated launch. From the cage to the stage, the former England captain brought his iconic Predator archive to town before focusing on his new project with the Three Stripes.
David Beckham and adidas know how to draw a crowd; their partnership has created history, and now it's forging a legacy with a boot steeped in success and tradition while embracing new-generation technologies. The "Triple White" adidas Predator Accelerator DB sold out as quickly as it hit shelves this morning, but you already knew that. The power of the Beckham influence continues to pull strings long after his playing days, evidential by the hype stirred up by his appearance in the capital last night.
Beckham kicked off the Predator program by surprising a group of young London footballers by joining their 5-a-side game in East London. The players, from the adidas Tango Squad, initially believed that they were simply testing out the new Cage footwear from the adidas x David Beckham Capsule Collection, until DB laced up with them and immediately bumped them all off free-kick duties.
Arriving with an archived entourage, Beckham brought a back-catalogue of his most cherished Predator designs that he wore throughout his career – a collection he spoke exclusively to SoccerBible about ahead of his signature Capsule Collection launch. The original Predator Accelerator provided the inspiration for his new collection, but Beckham dug deeper to showcase models from the Touch, Precision, Mania, Absolute and LZ series. Each pair mapping out his journey on and off the pitch as new personalisation was added on the famous uppers.
