LAFC Announce YouTube TV As Shirt Sponsor

LAFC continue to muscle into the MLS mix with a progressive approach to their inaugural season. The MLS new boys have yet to reveal their debut kits, but what we do now know is that the shirt sponsor will be YouTube TV, after the club announced a jersey sponsor that combines with a local broadcast deal as part of a wider partnership.

What's a local broadcast deal? Let's get this one explained. YouTube TV is a national subscription service that costs $35 per month. You get around 50 network channels and if you're in Los Angeles you'll be able to watch every LAFC home game live, with pre and post-match analysis.

The multi-year deal marks the first time a North American pro sports club will have all locally televised matches on a live TV streaming provider. All LAFC home matches will be geo-fenced, meaning that you'll only be able to watch them if you're in the LA area. A savvy idea by a new club that's looking to reach out to the local area and increase the size of its already impressive fanbase. Turning those eyes on screens into backsides on stadium seats.

On top of that broadcast deal, YouTube TV will also be the official shirt sponsor of the club's first ever kit. The YouTube TV logo will sit on the front of the 2018 LAFC jerseys, which will be revealed at a later date. Let's just hope it doesn't take the edge of what is set to be a beautifully crisp black and gold design.
