Wilfried Zaha let the BBC Africa cameras into his house to chat about the loyal relationship between a Premier League football and his barber. Ghanaian barber Nikky Okyere is to go-to man for Premier League players of African heritage, including Bakary Sako, Jordon Ibe, Danny Welbeck and Christian Benteke.
Okyere runs his own barbershop in Camberwell, South London, but he also does home visits to some of his more famous cliental, mainly Premier League players wanting to feel sharp ahead of their weekend fixtures. Look good, feel good is the trend of Zaha and Sako, who speak about their awareness of their every minute of work being broadcast to the world.
In the words of Zaha; "A haircut will take me from a 5 to a 10, a sharp haircut. Trust me…. a fade will make you a different person.” The Palace winger also talks about the trust of building a relationship with his barber and relying on Okyere to make him feel his best before a game. With a fade that sharp it's probably time for another trim before Okyere has even got back in his car. Long gone are the days of a Javier Zanetti short, back and sides.
"What are we doing for you today Javier...?"
