Mizuno have added some serious high-profile strength to their player pool by announcing the addition of former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid striker Fernando Torrres to their ranks.
Torres is now plying his trade with Sagan Tosu, in the homeland of the Mizuno brand – Japan – and he's put pen to paper on a contract that will see him wear the Mizuno Morelia Neo II boots throughout the current J-League season, starting on September 22 against Kashiwa Reysol. Torres was one of Nike's leading athletes during the prime of his career, a key figurehead in the memorable Nike T90 campaigns, but he parted ways with the Swoosh in 2013 to join adidas.
Torres has swapped the Three Stripes for whiteout Mizuno Morelia Neo II boots in recent weeks as the two parties entered negotiations, but now it's official and he'll switch into the new "Gold/Black" colourway this weekend.
On signing the deal Torres spoke; "I am honored to have concluded a brand ambassador contract with Mizuno, a historic Japanese sports brand. I like the goodness of comfort that I do not feel stress at all even when playing. Along with Mizuno's shoes, I would like to try to make good results at the club." That's that then, they don't hurt.
