Paulo Dybala Launches The adidas COPA 19 in Milan

After wearing a blackout pair the night before against Manchester United Paulo Dybala was in Milan to launch the much hyped laceless adidas COPA 19+ boots for real. A play on the senses was in store for the Juve man as he made his first appearance as the face of the new generation series.

The first leather laceless boot from adidas is naturally focused around touch and feel as it retains the DNA of the iconic COPA, and the Three Stripes made these attributes the theme of their experience at this interactive event in Milan. Leading the media and Dybala himself through their 'AREA 91' playground of senses, built to help understand how the COPA works with the foot to enhance feel and touch.

Dave Surace, Senior Design Director at adidas Football was also in the house to talk through the technology and story of creating this modern project, as well as diving deeper into the COPA timeline. Dybala has been selected by adidas as the key man to front this new generation of COPA, and it's easy to see why. He's a technician, a player that looks after the ball, doesn't fit the typical role of a Nemeziz, Predator or X player. That and he wears his socks like he's playing in the 70s. That helps too.

Dybala wore a completely blacked out pair of the boots in Juventus' 2-1 defeat to Manchester United the night before the event with just the personalisation of 'AREA 91' and the date on them – a tease to the event, one that clicked when we were greeted with the 'AREA 91' branding upon arrival. The man himself was led through the event experience before posing with the boots and taking questions from the assembled media.

The Argentine said of the boot: “I’ve always been a fan of the COPA because of the classic look and incredible first touch. It suits my style of play and my personal style too. The new boot has some great new features and a progressive design. I’m looking forward to seeing how far my game can improve with these boots.”
