World Cup winning forward Antoine Griezmann has shown off his latest custom PUMA boot artwork by giving the Future 2.1 silo a basketball twist. The Frenchman has been hooked up with a bespoke hand-painted design that features the faces of D'Angelo Russell and Isaiah Thomas on the heels.
Both of the basketball players mentioned are Nike athletes so this has to be a project that Griezmann has sorted himself, rather than PUMA. Griezmann is a big basketball fan and has attended numerous NBA games during the football off-season, meeting a whole host of basketball stars in the process. For this custom boot project he's selected point guards D'Angelo Russell and Isaiah Thomas. Russell of the Booklyn Nets and Thomas of the Denver Nuggets, formerly of the LA Lakers.
The customised pair of boots have been designed by renown footwear artist Pierre Navarro aka @Orravan_design, who has created a couple of other recent customs for the Atletico Madrid striker. First up were his Atletico-styled boots worn at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid earlier in the seasons, and secondly he wore a Uruguay-styled pair in France's recent international friendly against the South Americans. Both were worn for just one game, with the durability of the paint being questionable. We'd take a guess at his latest custom boots being more of a collectors item, rather than being taken across the white lines by the man himself.
Here's Griezmann attempting his favourite NBA celebrations, with Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum last year.
