Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi has put pen to paper on a new long term contract extension with Nike that'll see him remain with the Swoosh right up until 2027.
The news of the deal was announced by Icardi's wife and agent, Wanda Nara, who published details of the extension on Instagram. The new deal is a massive commitment from Nike, and a partnership that will run for nine years, expiring in 2027 when Icardi is 34 years-old. It essentially ties him to the Swoosh for the rest of his career, and not many players receive that level of backing.
The original contract between Nike and Icardi was signed in 2013 to cover an initial six year period, expiring in Spring 2019. But the new extension ensures that Icardi will continue to play his role as one of Nike's leading strikers.
Nara's post reads: "We finally came to a renewal of the contract with Nike. After months of work, this six-year partnership will continue for many more years. You deserve this and all the best in the world for being a great person and a unique athlete. Happy to work for you."
Icardi was recently in London to shoot with the brand for an upcoming activation, and that's where he wrapped up his new terms with the Swoosh.
