Ready to make some serious noise for their inaugural MLS season in 2020, Nashville’s expansion team have officially unveiled their name, crest and colours during a special event at Marathon Music Works in front of 2000 fans.
Nashville SC, as the team will be known, will play in "acoustic blue" and "electric gold”. The retention of both the name and the team colours from Nashville’s pro soccer team will please fans who voiced the fact that they wanted to keep the identity of the club as it moves forward into its next big venture.
As for the club's new crest, it has been designed to evoke the image of sound waves, and this along with the inaugural MLS season hashtag, #BandTogether is in keeping with the city's reputation as "Music City.” The club were keen to create their own unique identity that was true to the people and the place, and they have embraced the musical heritage and culture of the Tennessee city to do so.
“Since I first got involved in this effort, I have said that I wanted to do something ‘In Nashville, for Nashville, with Nashville.’ This team will always be about the fans and creating a team and brand that they are proud to support,” said majority owner John Ingram in a team statement. “The Nashville SC name and primary gold colour, along with the themes of sound and energy in the logo, embody our city and our fans who have been with us from the start.”
Nashville became the league’s 24th franchise in December 2017 and will play its final season in USL in 2019 before making the step up to MLS in 2020.
