Switch off your phone, lock the door, and tell the other half you’re busy for a bit – that’s right, FIFA 20 is on the way, and its bringing new options to the table that keep the franchise fresh for another season.
Like when the fixtures get revealed for the season, the release of FIFA is now an occasion that’s marked in diaries each year. FIFA 20 comes with all the gameplay and features you’d expect, and additionally this year, street football is back for the first time since 2012, with the new game mode, Volta. In it, you can create your own character and play in cages and futsal pitches all around the world, including London, Amsterdam and Tokyo. The teams will be made up of three to five players, within which you can play with your custom character or professional players, and you'll have both story and league modes.
FIFA hasn’t had any major changes for a few seasons now, so Volta (which is basically the return of FIFA Street) feels like something new to get excited about alongside the expected graphic improvements and raised levels of realism, as well as some promised smarter AI that means the players you aren't controlling will have better awareness of time, space and positioning. You had us at FIFA 20…
FIFA 20 is out on 27 September on all platforms.
