PUMA are celebrating the launch of Newcastle United's 2019/20 home shirt by dropping a short film that showcases the immense pride and passion that exudes from the people who call this charismatic and energetic city home.
The film is a homage to the people of the city and their football club, as it spotlights fans from all walks of life, who share the same passion for NUFC. Displaying their sense of pride for one of the most passionate footballing hotbeds in the country and how that sentiment reverberates throughout the city on a match day.
The new PUMA 19/20 home kit is a nod to the 50th anniversary of the club’s Fairs Cup success, with the inspiration taken from the club’s 1969 kit with a central black stripe and classic round neck collar with white trim. The film, directed by Oliver Jennings, features cameos from the Fairs Cup legends, Bob Moncur and Alan Foggon, who reminisce over their triumphant outting in June '69, while Brooke Cochrane (NUFC Women's Club Captain), 6 year old fan Boby and Thai Boxing veteran Barry Norman also star in respective scenes.
PUMA take the new shirt through various landmarks across the city including Townmoor, High-Level Bridge, Tynemouth Pier Lighthouse, and Newcastle Labour Club in a video that brings the supporters to the forefront of the club. These are the people who give this famous old club its DNA, its heritage and its identity as one of English football's most iconic clubs. Players come and go, but the fans are Newcastle United. There's a lot of pride in those black and white stripes.
