With a host of new additions to the squad, anticipation for the 2019/20 season is understandably high for Spurs fans following their first-ever Champions League final appearance. Among the Tottenham fans hoping for some silverware this season is British musician, songwriter and producer Elderbrook, aka Alexander Kotz, and he sat down recently to give us his match day playlist as the season gears up.
Following successful collaborations with the likes of CamelPhat, Grammy nominated live act, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Elderbrook returns following a successful tour of the U.S., teaming up with Rudimental for feel-good, summer anthem “Something About You”. The new track - which follows up the Diplo co-produced single “How Do You” – is an infectious, up-tempo beat offering which continues Elderbrook’s run of working with top-tier global talent as he begins to tease music from his much-anticipated upcoming body of work.
Like many of us, Elderbrook’s early memories of football are rooted to his Dad, and this has clearly had a heavy influence on his playlist selections. "My match day playlist features a mixture of songs that I listened to with my Dad along with songs that just get me hyped,” the artist explained. “The best memory of a match I went to was when England played Germany in 2003 and won 5-1. I was only 10 and the whole thing was pretty surreal, mainly because of the score!”
Comprised of an eclectic mix of tracks, with some classic rock anthems to songs that are just good to sing along to, Elderbrook talked us through his selections, giving the reasoning behind his choices.
Queen – Another One Bites The Dust
Amazing band, and this song keeps driving forward, and keeps the blood pumping. It's an amazing football anthem.
Ian Dury – Sweet Gene Vincent
This is a song my Dad would always play in the car on the way to games at White Hart lane.
Chas and Dave – Sweet
My family are all tottenham fans and Chas and Dave are musical ambassadors for the club. This is my favourite song by them.
Fleetwood Mac – The Chain
Another one of my favourite bands! And I love how the song completely switches up halfway thorough to the musical explosion at the end.
White Stripes – Seven Nation Army
Just the perfect football stadium sing-a-long song.
DJ Khaled – All I Do Is Win
Essential get-you-going-before-a-game song.
Guns & Roses – Welcome To The Jungle
Just love the energy and vibe of this song – amazing to sing along to on a match day!
ACDC – Thunderstruck
Epic intro and guitar solos.
Elder brook – Cola
What can I say it bangs...lol!
Jay Z – 99 Problems
Our message to the teams!
