Focusing on the incredible achievements of Greek side PAOK, a new documentary titled ‘The Invincibles' has been released by the club on YouTube, telling the story of the team’s unbeaten campaign in which they won the league and cup double.
PAOK FC made history in the 2018/19 season by becoming only the second team ever to win the Greek league undefeated, and the first since 1964. PAOK sealed an impressive season with 26 victories and four draws in the league, and now ‘The Invincibles’ tells the story of the season. With the usual unprecedented access to players and behind the scenes footage, ‘The Invincibles’ stands apart from many of the other football documentaries that have been released recently in that it actually ends with success.
Having started the season with a points deduction after the club's president walked on to the pitch with a gun, Panthessaloníkios Athlitikós Ómilos Konstantinopolitón, better known as just PAOK, went on to be crowned champions of Greece for the first time since 1985, and they did so without getting beaten once. Fans of the Premier League will obviously remember Arsenal’s incredible unbeaten season in 2003/04, and there’s a link to the North London side in PAOK’s story, with former Gunner Chuba Akpom featuring prominently throughout their season, culminating in his winning goal in the Greek Cup, sealing the unbeaten double.
'The Invincibles' is available to watch on YouTube now.
