Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first person to break 200 million followers on Instagram, with only the social media platform’s account itself having more. Ronaldo finds himself on top of the list of people with the most followers, ahead of Ariana Grande and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in the next two positions.
Adding yet another record to his considerable haul, Cristiano Ronaldo can now lay claim to being the first person to gather more than 200 million followers on Instagram. The next closest person is Ariana Grande, who can only boast a paltry 173 million followers, while perennial rival Lionel Messi is way off the pace with 141m followers and Neymar has 132m.
The news comes a few months after Ronaldo was announced as topping the Instagram earners list, and with 200m+ followers, it’s no real surprise. He also tops the list of athletes charging the most for individual Instagram posts, something that's not surprising when he can get that many eyes on a product. Just yesterday he posted news of CR7 brand’s new collaboration with Italia Independent on a range of sunglasses, and within the first 10 minutes it had been viewed nearly 800,000 times. Less than 24 hours later and that number now stands at 6.9 million views. Scary.
