Drawing a close to the first month of the new year and also the first month of the new decade, we round up the hottest drops that have got us through January. And what a month it’s been – brands came out with all guns blazing, launching new on-pitch packs, next-generation silos, and fresh clothing collections. Between it all, here's what's caught our attention...
| adidas Predator 20+ Mutator – Only one place to start, right? The next generation Predator Mutator 20+ saw the return of rubber as adidas brought back some authentic DNA to the silo. An aggressive aesthetic that takes some getting used to, this was huge. Grab yours here.
| Nike PhantomVSN II – Nike's first next-generation boot of the decade, the PhantomVSN II saw a significant reworking of the upper, with a shift to a more attack minded approach. It dropped in both the 'Future Lab' and 'Kinetic Black' colourways, both of which you can get here.
| adidas Mutator Pack – Getting dressed up in support of the new Predator 20+, the Mutator Pack saw the Nemeziz 19, COPA 20 and X 19 getting new paint jobs for the Three Stripes' first on-pitch pack of the year. Check out the full collection here.
| Nike Future Lab Pack – Nike make their first major moves of the new year, backing up the release of the next generation PhantomVSN II with the rest of the roster. That's the Mercurial Superfly and Vapor, PhantomVNM, and Tiempo Legend VIII, all decked out in a combination of red and black with silver accents to complete the ‘Future Lab’ pack, the first on-pitch collection from the Swoosh for 2020. Check them all out here.
| PUMA Spark Pack – PUMA threw their first punches of 2020 by releasing the Spark Pack, their next on-pitch boot collection. The Future 5.1 and ONE 5.1 silos were given fresh colourways as part of the drop which all PUMA players switched in to. Pick between the two here.
| Nike Kinetic Black Pack – Providing a twist on the typical blackout look, Nike unveiled the rest of the Kinetic Black pack on the back of the PhantomVSN II launch, with a shimmer added to the designs of the Mercurial Superfly and Vapor, PhantomVNM, and Tiempo Legend VIII. Shop the collection here.
| adidas Predator Archive Mutator – Ahead of the highly anticipated new Predator, adidas dropped this monster mashup on us, celebrating the iconic boot's illustrious past. The Predator 'Archive Mutator' arrived as a special edition launch that dissected Predators of old and re-built them into something entirely unique. In store here.
| adidas Shadow Beast Pack – The first release of the year from adidas, the Shadow Beast pack saw an understated blackout look for the X 19+, Nemeziz 19+ and COPA 20+, although the Predator was conspicuous in its absence, with the drop coming ahead of the unveiling of the new Predator. Always a demand for blackout, and you can get them here.
| New Balance Furon V6 – The next-generation Furon V6 represented New Balance's first foray into the world of knitted uppers. It's the brand's lightest boot to date, and that’s thanks in the most part to the new adaptive, lightweight FIT WEAVE stretch upper. The knit material also boasts life-long shape retention. Like what you see? Pick it up here.
| Umbro Velocita V – The fifth generation of speed was presented under the cover of darkness, as Umbro launched the Velocita V in a "Black/Black Reflective" colourway. The new “Memory Flex” upper offers a dynamic fit that works in conjunction with the natural motion of your foot, while that shimmering Double Diamond effect is a classy sign off. Available here.
| Mizuno Morelia II Made In Japan 35 Year Anniversary Edition – Celebrating 35 years since its original release, Mizuno launched the Morelia II Made in Japan in a classic “Black/White/Chinese Red” colourway that paid homage to where it all began. Class, tradition and quality, all wrapped up in a timeless design. Grab yours here.
| PSG x Jordan 19/20 Fourth Shirt – Nike pushed their Swoosh aside to let the Jumpman logo dance on an understated black kit with a vibrant French tricolour flag running down the middle of the jersey. Hype of the highest order, as is always expected when these two come together. Get it here while you can.
| adidas Boca Juniors 19/20 Home and Away – After a 27-year separation, adidas and Club Atlético Boca Juniors rekindled their relationship, launching both the home and away kit for the 2020/21 season in a double dose of delight that was well worth the wait. Take your pick or grab both here.
| Nike Kaizer Chiefs 50th Anniversary Jersey – On 7 January 2020 Kaizer Chiefs turned 50, and celebrating half a century in style, the club launched a classy gold and black special edition commemorative jersey in partnership Nike. Another one that you won't want to miss, and it's still available here.
| Lazio 120th Anniversary Shirt – Lazio are never ones to shy away from celebrating an anniversary, and so they launched this beauty for their 120th year, with the design drawing influence from their success of the late 90s. The team wore the special edition shirt for their 1-0 win over Napoli on 11 January. You can get it here.
| Club America 2020 Third Jersey – Carrying some serious Germany World Cup ’94 vibes, Nike launched the Club America 2020 third jersey, which continued the ‘Eterna Grandeza’ (Eternal Greatness) slogan that the home and away shirts arrived under. And seeing as the home shirt made it into our top 30 shirts of the 2019/20 season, this was always going to be one we'd have our eye out for. Sure enough it didn't disappoint, apart from the fact that it's not available in Europe. Gutted.
| Nike Barcelona next-gen Vaporknit collection – Nike launching the next generation of VaporKnit would have been enough to get our attention anyway, but combine it with the latest Barcelona training range and it's a shoe in for the hottest drops of the month. Shop the range here.
| Barcelona 2019/20 Pre-Match Top – We've said it before, but pre-match jersey design is where it's at right now, with an absolute freedom of expression. And no where is that more evident than on the wild new Barca pre-match jersey. Probably a bit of a marmite one, but we're all for this. Love it too? Grab it here.
| PSG x Jordan January 2020 Capsule – Arriving on the back of the PSG x Jordan Fourth Kit launch, the wider lifestyle collection consolidated the Parisian club's status as streetwear leaders in the global game, and this latest drop was packed with fresh hype. Check out the full collection here.
| Jordan x PSG Aerospace 720 – Sure, these are technically part of the previously mentioned PSG x Jordan capsule, but as the statement sneaker from the collection they warrant their own slot on the list. The design saw a split colour design on each shoe representing the club's colours, while on the underside you've got that altered PSG club crest with the Jumpman logo replacing the Eiffel Tower. Absolute fire. Get them here.
| adidas Predator Archive Mutator TR – Landing alongside the monster that was the Predator Archive Mutator, this trainer edition saw the mad upper placed on top of a Boost midsole, as adidas took their special edition mash-up to the streets. Available here.
| Nike React Infinity Run "Bright Crimson" – Nike often like to take one or two of their performance shoes and give them a paint job that ties them in with the latest on-pitch pack release, and for the 'Future Lab' pack they picked the recently released React Infinity Run, decking it out in a Mercurial-inspired look. Eyes out for this one as it will be dropping sometime soon.
January done.
