Welcoming their latest star-signing to town, LA Galaxy recently teamed up with Venice Beach FC to create a Chicharito mural on the Venice Boardwalk, and the focus of that mural, Javier Hernandez, dropped by to check it out and to meet the fans.
Javier Hernandez has some big boots to fill, following the likes of David Beckham, Robbie Keane, and most recently Zlatan Ibrahimovic in becoming the star player for LA Galaxy. But without a competitive ball being kicked for the club, it appears as if the Galaxy supporters have already taken Chicharito to heart.
A new mural has been created by the Galaxy in conjunction with Venice Beach FC, and it prominently displays LA’s marquee offseason signing, with Hernandez’s arms outstretched in celebration. The mural also displays several Galaxy legends, including Landon Donovan and Cobi Jones, David Beckham, Robbie Keane and Chicharito’s Mexican compatriot Jorge Campos, all of whom have their back to the viewer. It’s a sign of the tough act that Hernandez has to follow, but it looks like the Mexican is already settling into life in LA, and with this type of affection being displayed without him even playing an official game, you can only imagine the hero status that awaits him should he find success for the team.
Chicharito will have his first opportunity to impress when the Galaxy visit the Houston Dynamo on Saturday for their 2020 MLS season opener.
