"The Beckham Effect" Film Focuses On David Beckham's Influence On MLS

On July 21, 2007, David Beckham made his debut for the LA Galaxy, instigating a huge cultural shift within Major League Soccer that continues today with the debut of his Inter Miami team. Charting his journey and looking closer at his ongoing influence on the league, a documentary named “The Beckham Effect” is set to air ahead of Inter Miami’s first home game on 14 March.

It’s been 13 years since David Beckham made his debut for LA Galaxy. 13 years… let that sink in for a minute. The former England captain and cultural icon arrived in Major League Soccer and had  an instantaneous and unparalleled impact on its standing; an impact that continues today with the debut of his very own team, Inter Miami. And to take stock of his journey, Hock Films has produced a documentary titled “The Beckham Effect”.

The documentary features exclusive interviews with Landon Donovan, Don Garber, Bruce Arena, Steve Nash, Kyle Martino and more as Beckham’s latest MLS chapter gets underway. From the ups-and-downs of his six-year tenure with LA and its impact on the sports landscape to Beckham’s legacy stateside, the 45-minute documentary leaves nothing uncovered.

“The Beckham Effect” is set to premiere on Friday 6 March at 9:30pm ET on Fox Sports 1, with various air dates leading up to Inter Miami’s home debut on 14 March against the Galaxy. No news on how it can be watched on this side of the pond at this stage though…
