Roma & Nike Agree To Terminate Partnership

In what is a massive blow to fans of last season’s kits in particular, Roma have officially announced that they and Nike are parting ways after an agreement was reached to terminate the contract that was supposed to run for several more seasons.

The Giallorossi signed a multi-year deal with Nike in 2013 – believed to be 10 years – with the Swoosh taking over from Kappa, and it was a partnership that gave us some of the best kits of the last few seasons, crescendoing in last season’s triple hit of lightning strike quality. But sadly, as with all good things, the partnership will now end upon completion of the 2019/20 season. On a positive note it does mean we get one more outing from the pair.

AS Roma Chief Operating Officer Francesco Calvo said of the move: “The early termination of the commercial agreement will allow AS Roma to explore new opportunities in the equipment and licensing space.” That doesn’t tell us an awful lot, but it’s all we’re getting for now.

The club did stress that a new agreement had been reached for 2020/21 season between Roma and Nike, and it will see Nike provide the club with all on-pitch, training and casual products for the first team, youth teams and women’s teams. Enjoy it while it lasts…

Imagine Roma must have something up their sleeves...
