You just can’t keep a good man down, or indeed, out of the news, as Marcus Rashford hits headlines once again. This time though it’s not as a result of a direct action from the Man United striker, but instead because a street artist has painted a stunning mural to honour the footballer's charity work.
Following on from the news that he has become Burberry’s new winter ambassador, teaming up with the fashion house to support charitable youth initiatives in Manchester, London and New York, Marcus Rashford is back in the spotlight again, albeit on this occasion it’s only his image. That’s because street artist Akse has created a giant Mural of the England striker, in honour of his tireless efforts to ensure that poverty-stricken children are fed during school holidays, leading a campaign for the government to provide free school meals since March.
While the mural might not quite stand up to his MBE from the Queen, it’s another recognition from society that his work is greatly appreciated.
The mural is displayed across the side of a building, for which the brickwork was painted jet black, before Rashford's smiling face was placed on top of it.This isn’t the first giant mural that Akse has created of a footballing personality, after he produced an equally huge picture of Jurgen Klopp. And he’s also worked with Liverpool on some special edition jackets in conjunction with Levi’s, but now his focus has switched to Liverpool’s rivals, Manchester United, for a very worthy cause, honouring Rashford just after his 23rd birthday.
