Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, and where there’s fire, there’s David Beckham. Well that’s the logic that we’re applying to the rumours doing the rounds about Becks and family signing on to a lucrative Netflix documentary.
Football documentaries are all the rage these days, with anyone who’s anyone having a set of cameras following them round, lifting the veil to give a glimpse at the reality behind the public perception. And so the only surprise about the news that the Beckhams are next up in the Docu-Series cannon is that it has taken this long for it to happen.
Initial reports are suggesting a deal with Netflix that will be worth in the region of £16 million to the Beckhams, and that it will share never-seen-before footage from the home life of the famous family. While the documentary is rumoured to feature the former England captain’s rise to fame, which will be documented through personal photos and recollections from friends, family and teammates, it will also chart the relationship with Victoria, from the early beginnings to the modern day. As well as that, the all-encompassing series will also follow Golden Balls in the present day, showing his involvement with Inter Miami.
David's former teammates from Manchester United and Real Madrid such as Gary Neville, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ryan Giggs, have also been tipped to appear, alongside celebrity friends such as James Corden, and best mate Dave Gardner.
Sure it's not the first-ever documentary to focus on David Beckham, and it won't be the last either, but it promises to show a side to the superstar that's rarely seen.
Don't expect this one before 2022...
