National Women's Soccer League expansion team Angel City have taken the next step on their journey towards their 2022 debut, revealing a new and unique front-of-shirt kit sponsorship deal with DoorDash.
While we eagerly await the team colours, crest and kit of NWSL side Angel City, the first hints at their identity have been revealed with the announcement that DoorDash, the nation’s leading last-mile logistics platform, will be the team’s founding front-of-kit sponsor and exclusive on-demand delivery platform partner. But the deal tells us more than just what will appear on the front of the team’s jerseys, revealing a deeper approach behind their decisions and impact on their community.
The deal will see DoorDash and ACFC acknowledging their joint commitment to making an impact both on and off-the-field. Through the Angel City Sponsorship Model, in which ACFC collaborates with its partners to re-allocate a portion of the value of their sponsorship to local causes, the two will work together to address food insecurity in Los Angeles. In fact, in the first year of their multi-year partnership, ACFC and DoorDash have committed to bringing an estimated 250,000 meals to those in need.
“Today marks a major milestone in the evolution of Angel City Football Club as we welcome DoorDash as our founding front-of-kit partner,” said Julie Uhrman, Co-Founder and President of Angel City FC. “DoorDash aligns with our mission to make a positive impact across Los Angeles and beyond. We are so moved to see them immediately mobilize our partnership by helping get meals to those across Los Angeles who may otherwise go without. This is just the beginning and I look forward to the impact we will make together in the years to come.”
Angel City is Los Angeles’ first NWSL team, and it boasts a stellar group of A-list founders, including Academy Award-winning actress and activist Natalie Portman, technology venture capitalist Kara Nortman, media and gaming entrepreneur Julie Uhrman, and venture capitalist, 776 founder & Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. Chuck in the likes of Serena Williams, Jessica Chastain, Eva Longoria, Billie Jean King and fourteen former US Women's National Team players representing Southern California.
