If reports in Italy hold any truth, then Napoli could be set to sign a world’s first kit deal with a fashion brand, in Emporio Armani’s EA7 brand. Napoli's current deal with Kappa expires at the end of the season, and the Serie A side are clearly open to some left field collaborations…
The relationship between football and fashion has developed at an amazing rate over the last few years, with both entities more than willing to welcome each into their own house. But now it looks as though Napoli are potentially set to take the next step by taking on a fashion brand as their main kit supplier, if reports in Italy are to be believed.
With Napoli’s current deal with Kappa set to expire at the end of the season, several brands have been circling, but it now looks as though EA7 may have jumped ahead of the rest.
EA7 was launched in 2012 as Emporio Armani's new sports and casual brand, bringing a new sportswear angle to the fashion house, and they’ve already dressed numerous Italian athletes including summer and winter Olympics teams, tennis players, ski championships, and more. And reports suggest that they are in advanced talks with Napoli to take on their kit supply. The thought is that this could be a short term deal, possibly lasting only for one season, but it would allow Napoli to facilitate the production of their own in-house kits from then on.
Napoli are certainly open to some wild kit deals and designs, with this news closely following the release of their special collaboration with Marcelo Burlon recently.
File this one very much in the rumour department for now, but it certainly would be interesting...
