Despite his explosive nature on the pitch and his immense popularity off it, Mo Salah is quite a reserved character. So it was refreshing to get to know the Liverpool forward that little bit better thanks to a candid interview and shoot with GQ, with the publication making him their February cover star.
While Liverpool fans desperately wait for their club’s hierarchy to pull its collective finger out and get their talismanic Egyptian King to sign a new contract, Mo Salah has been going about his business, doing what he does best: scoring goals and helping his club win games. But in between all that and preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations, he also found the time to catch up with GQ for a retro-fuelled photoshoot, bringing back some classic threads in his trademark easy-going style.
It’s been a busy little spell for Salah. He’s currently racked up an impressive 23 goals so far this season for Liverpool – 16 in the Premier League and seven in the Champions League, and his form over the last five years has seen him finally rewarded with his own signature boot by adidas ahead of his AFCON campaign with Egypt. He turns 30 in June and he has fewer than 18 months left on his current deal, but there are few players in the world right now – if any – that are on the same level as him right now.
