Sports performance eyewear brand Oakley have announced a multi-year partnership with Kylian Mbappé, and it kicks off with the PSG man taking the lead in the brand’s newest “Be Who You Are” campaign film.
Kylian Mbappé is kind of a big deal. At 23 he’s already a World Cup winner, and is touted to become one of the best in the world – if he’s not there already. His name is known across the globe, and he still has at least decade at the top of the game ahead of him, all being well. So it’s understandable that brands will flock to him in the hopes that he might endorse their products, and the latest to be able to boast a partnership with him is Oakley.
Mbappé’s star just keeps on rising, and the announcement from Oakley follows up on his ambassadorial role with fashion brand Dior, as the Frenchman continues to expand his endeavours away from the pitch.
For this latest partnership, Mbappé will support Oakley's iconic lifestyle eyewear collection including product releases for years to come and in particular, Kato, the ground-breaking eyewear that revolutionised the industry upon its introduction in 2021.
“Everyone knows what I’m all about when it comes to football – now, I’m excited to partner with a brand that wants to share my story off the pitch, and support what I want to do to help inspire global youth," said Mbappé. “I relate to the Oakley attitude in many ways – the disruptive, innovative spirit and the drive to create positive change. The ‘Be Who You Are’ message resonated very strongly with me and I want to help instill that belief in staying true to yourself and that self confidence in others.”
“We live in a world that constantly invites us to see athletes as untouchable idols,” said Caio Amato, Oakley Global Marketing Director. “However, at Oakley we believe that athletes aren’t measured only by the strength of their body, speed, or accuracy, but by the strength of their heart, kindness, and empathy. And that is what Kylian represents to us: a great human being that understands his role beyond sport – to lead and inspire future generations to believe in themselves and be who they are.”
