Inter & Nike Announce Eight Year Extension Of Their Historic Partnership

After 25 years and 20 trophies won together, Inter and Nike have announced an eight-year extension of their partnership. The extension will see the partnership surpass 30 years, with the renewal to run until 2031.

Few partnerships in the world of club football can boast the longevity of Nike and Inter Milan, and yet that partnership is set to be extended by a further eight years, taking them to 2031. Having started way back in 1998, the partnership is one of the longest in European football, and the new extension will “remain consistent with the core values, highlighting the mutual spirit of innovation as well as placing focus on equity and support for the women’s game.”

It gives us great pleasure to announce the extension of this historic partnership between Nike and Inter,” said Alessandro Antonello, CEO Corporate FC Internazionale Milano. We’ve been able to develop together over the years and consolidate our roles as global icons, going beyond football. This alliance has provided us with incredibly happy moments over the last 25 years and we’re delighted that Nike has chosen to continue working with our club.

The news will be a welcome one for both club and brand, well and truly putting to bed reports of a rift between the two back in early 2022. The deal extension will be worth a reported €30 million (US$33 million) per year to Inter – a huge mark up from the approximate €10m a season that they were getting, and far more in line with what other big teams receive, albeit still a way off the €51m that Juventus receive from adidas.

Nike will be supplying all technical kit for the men’s, women’s and youth teams, as well as future lifestyle collections, an interesting development given that back in October 2020, Inter announced that they had taken back their retail and licensing rights from Nike, with the new operations model between the two organisations allowing Inter to take full control of their product sales network. That move has since seen Inter putting out its own brand, in-house lifestyle collections in recent years, so whether this continues or not will remain to be seen. Still, we're already looking forward to more iconic kits to come, starting with the 23/24 offerings...
