As a perfect way to commemorate 30 years of the MLS, Apple have designed brand-new, bespoke sleeve badges for the 2025 season. Each team will have a unique print design across the Apple logo, as a nod to the visual identity of each club's culture.
Back in 2023, MLS signed a new 10-year media rights agreement with Apple – meaning all MLS games would be streamed on Apple TV. The innovative partnership between the two brands has brought clear improvements to the league, including broadcast quality and accessibility worldwide, opening up the MLS to a wider reach of fans.
As part of their partnership, all MLS threads adorn the esteemed Apple logo on the left sleeve. However, this year, Apple have developed a new concept authentic to the MLS and as a way to celebrate 30 years of the league. Each team will have the Apple TV logo dressed in a unique, custom pattern for the first time – drawing inspiration from each club's distinctive club crest and colour pattern, as to embody their individual visual identity.
When asked about the idea behind the custom redesign of the Apple logo, Emeka Ofodile, Apple’s global head of sports marketing, said: “As we were approaching the 2025 season, we’d been collectively brainstorming how to celebrate this landmark season in a memorable way. We wanted to do it in a way that was uniquely Apple but also felt authentic to the MLS and our partnership, and this is the perfect way to commemorate the 30th anniversary milestone.”
“The league, clubs, and players have been collaborative partners since we first launched MLS Season Pass and this project has been no different. We worked closely to make sure the designs felt authentic to each club and the feedback has been really positive.”
“We’re always looking for creative ways to enhance our partnership with Major League Soccer, both throughout the regular season and during key moments like Leagues Cup, All-Star, and MLS Cup. Fans have loved seeing MLS show up across their favorite Apple services — including Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Maps, and even in Apple Store locations. We’re excited to continue exploring new opportunities to engage fans and grow the league’s fandom throughout the season."
During the last few pre-season matches, we got the first look at some of the teams bespoke Apple badges. I think it's safe to say they look class. Watch out this weekend for the first matchday of the MLS season, where all 30 teams will be donning their new sleeve patch.
