Luton Town Confirm Barcelona Stadium Team To Work On New Home Plans

After first teasing plans for a new home late last year, Luton Town confirm that the company who have been redeveloping the Spotify Nou Camp will work on the proposed 25,000 capacity stadium – Power Court.

Although they are still fighting relegation in the Championship, with it all coming down to the last matchday of the season, Luton Town fans do have something to celebrate – a proposed new home. Plans for a brand-new stadium were brought forward late last year and now the club have confirmed that the team who have been redeveloping the Spotify Nou Camp will be heading to England to work on these plans. Quite the change, Barcelona to Luton...

The plans for 'Power Court' show a state of the art, 25,000 capacity stadium which will be built alongside multiple office and residential building – said to bring over 1000 permanent jobs and regenerate the Luton area. This comes as huge news for fans, who have gathered at Kenilworth Road to watch their team play for the last 119 years – a stadium with a capacity of only 12,000 which welcomed Premier League football in 23/24 for the first time in 31 years. The plans show innovative new designs for the stadium, looking to increase Luton's reputation and show the club's growth intentions for the future.

Gary Sweet, Luton Town's chief executive, said: "Partnering with a company of Limak's international standing offers us a global perspective with local delivery. This is a transformative opportunity for the club, helping us realise our ambitions to be a Premier League club again one day. We are united with the supporters on the need for a new stadium to move our Luton Town forward and we are delighted to be moving into this exciting construction phase."

Hazel Simmons, the leader of Luton Borough Council, said: "This development is about much more than football, it will unlock long-term regeneration, bring jobs, homes and vitality back to the centre of Luton. We are proud to support Luton Town in making this vision a reality and are delighted Limak has been chosen to partner with the club at this time."

Limak International, the construction company currently working on the Spotify Nou Camp, are set to begin work on Power Court during summer 2025. The stadium is set to hold it's first competitive game at the beginning of the 2028/29 season.

Paul Stephens, the chairman of Luton Town Supporters' Trust, welcomed a major step forward for the club and said, "On behalf of our members, I welcome the club's contracting partnership with Limak International – especially one of such pedigree – and I'm sure I speak for all members when I say we can't wait to see construction work on site."

Gokalp Kahraman, the regional director for the UK and Western Europe at Limak International, said: "The firm will offer its technical expertise and international experience. We're incredibly excited to work with the club and its partners to bring its ambitious and impressive vision to life"
