Making its global debut in the football kits worn by Nike federations at the biggest sporting event of 2026, Aero-FIT will soon roll out across Nike’s wider performance range — a defining feature of the brand’s sport-led product strategy.
“Nike exists to make athletes better, and our breakthrough Aero-FIT technology delivers the future of our industry-defining apparel innovation in both elite performance and sustainability at scale,” explained Janett Nichol, VP, Apparel & Advanced Digital Creation Studio Innovation.
At its core, Aero-FIT is about airflow as performance. Designed to move more air between skin and fabric, it enhances sweating efficiency and keeps athletes dry under pressure. Elliptical mesh zones form its visual signature — lighter, more open in high-heat areas, and functionally tuned to channel airflow exactly where it’s needed most.
Hundreds of athletes have put Aero-FIT through its paces across multiple conditions, validating its comfort, cooling and freedom of movement through rigorous wear testing. “We obsessed the data,” Nichol explains. “We unpacked how air moves around the body and mapped that airflow with sport-specific designs.”
This is innovation grounded in science and sustainability. Aero-FIT is Nike’s first elite performance apparel made entirely from textile waste, created through advanced chemical recycling that transforms discarded materials into high-quality recycled polyester yarn — indistinguishable from virgin fiber.
The innovation doesn’t stop at the fabric. Nike’s integrated design system brought together sport science, computational design and advanced manufacturing, using motion data, digital blueprints and biomechanical mapping to fine-tune every stitch. The result? A garment that performs as smart as it feels.
“Our jerseys worn next summer will feel light, unrestrictive and comfortable for an entire match,” Nichol says. “That’s the kind of comfort that keeps an athlete fully focused for 90-plus minutes.”
