Football Shirt News - Manchester City Away Kit 09/10 by Umbro - 31/07/09
Manchester City and Umbro have unveiled the new 09/10 Away football shirt. The new shirt designed by Umbro, has been inspired by the industrious 'Manchester Bee'!
The new Manchester City away shirt is black with yellow flashes and references the Manchester Bee. Umbro's kit designer David Blanch explained the inspiration behind the new Manchester City football kits:
"All of the kits have a resonance in some way with both the club and the city. The away kit was partly inspired by the Manchester Bee s industrious connotations and colour symbolism; which for me was power, strength and confidence.
As with the home kit, colour balance is a really important factor. That said the away kit needed to look both bold and imposing. We chose to use the gold from the crest and use it at the shoulders to focus the upper body to open up the chest and define the upper torso. The rest of it is completely black. In relation to the black, this creates a completely different personality to the home shirt but both speak about the club s heritage." 
This season Umbro have been creating football shirts tailored to blend innovation with style. The cut of the shirts are tailored to the body to enhance fit, with every seam constructed uniquely for a specific function eg. reduce friction, strength, definition and stretch.
The new Manchester City away 09/10 football kit will go on general release from August 15th and is available on pre-order.
