Real Madrid Third Kit 2011-2012 - adidas Football Shirt

Real Madrid will wear a red kit for the first time in 38 years, when they play in the Champions League this week. Real Madrid and adidas have unveiled the new Real Madrid Third football shirt 2011/12, and you can have an up-close look here...

To be worn in the UEFA Champions League, the new Real Madrid red football shirt will be worn for the first time against Dinamo Zagreb. But it's not the first time Real Madrid have worn a red football kit.

A football kit of simple design, the new red Real Madrid jersey features an all-over red main body, to be a showy and energetic colour. For Real Madrid it's a case of history returning, as they previously wore a red kit in the early 1970's, so the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka will be looking to follow in the footsteps of such legends as Zoco, Pirri and Amancio.

Real Madrid legend Amancio commented on the new red Real Madrid shirt: "You know, the only difference between this shirt and ours is the texture. Ours was made of cotton and increased its weight with sweat. The crest is the same and that's why we'll always like any Real Madrid shirt."

But for adidas it's slightly more technical than just applying a badge to a modern day football shirt. To engineer this new Real Madrid football shirt, adidas have developed a new weave for the preparation of the jersey, with a new polyester fibre mixture. The newly developed weave has a special treatment that adds to the appearance of the shirt, whlist maintaining the technical characteristics of lightness, higher transpiration and comfort.

As standard in new adidas performance apparel, the Real Madrid Third football shirt 11/12 features ClimaCool technology which regulates the temperature of the wearer and facilitates sweating.

Now that you've seen the new 11/12 Real Madrid Third adidas Shirt we're sure there's going to be plenty of reaction - share your thoughts with the SoccerBible community online, on Twitter and on Facebook.
