adidas Launch Official Team GB Olympic Kit

Adidas have today unveiled the football kit to be worn by Team GB in their push for Olympic gold in four months time. Top British stars joining Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell are likely to include Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey and Tottenham midfielder Gareth Bale, while David Beckham remains the likely candidate set to lead Stuart Pearce's men come the summer.

Fashion designer Stella McCartney is the creative mind behind the new Team GB uniform which has already sparked controversy for featuring a blue Union flag. The range has been themed around a blue and white flag, but it's the lack of red - that has been used predominately as a trim - which has brought the design into question.

The kit, that will be worn by over 900 British athletes across the 16 Olympic and 20 Paralympic sports, has been two and a half years in the making and will sit alongside the current fans' version of the Team GB supporters shirt. Athletes gathered in London to help launch the kit that was unveiled for the first time today at the official launch event at the Tower of London.

Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell has become the first Premier League professional to model the new strip. Sunderland striker and Team GB hopeful Fraizer Campbell was also on hand to help unveil the new kit. The new uniform will be available in stores over the coming weeks and is expected to retail for the same £55 as the supporters jersey that went on sale late last year.
