City Go Back To Black With New Away Kit
Machester City Unveil Stylish 2013/14 Nike Away Strip.
Manchester City have gone back to black for their 2013/14 away kit unveiled today by Nike. This is Nike's first crack at a City kit, having signed a new six year deal with the team who recently partnered the New York Yankees to create NYCFC. The home kit was a simple and stylish affair, but it's the away kit where Nike have really made their stamp.
Manchester City's traditional sky blue shirt doesn't leave much room for creativity, but this away strip is a far cry from last season's Umbro design. The red and black stripes have been ditched and in their place is a two tone black and charcoal design with gold details.
The subtle half-and-half design is a graphic element that reflects the clubs history. City were founded as St Mark s in 1880 before becoming Gorton AFC in 1884, and then Ardwick AFC between 1887 and 1894. The design of the new away strip is a reflection of Ardwick AFC's design in the 1890-91 season and the colours represent Gorton AFC, who played in black.
The grandad style collar finishes the shirt off nicely producing a classy looking strip that's a contender for best looking kit of the year. The Manchester City crest, Nike Swoosh and sponsor s logo are all in gold to reflect the Club s most recent successes.
The shirt is complimented by black shorts with a gold emblem on the right leg and a gold Nike Swoosh on the left. The socks are also black but with a dark charcoal band at the top and a gold Swoosh on both legs.
Joe Hart is also seen modelling the new goalkeeper's strip which now features two hues of yellow with a black trim. Fernandinho's was the only MCFC new-boy to feature in the photoshoot alongside Matija Nastasic, James Milner, club captain Vincent Kompany, Pablo Zabaleta and Joleon Lescott.
The new Nike Manchester City and away shirt is available from selected online stockists including Pro-Direct Soccer. Let us know what you think.
